West Wing had 4 good years - the first four seasons.

Exactly. I love when people talk about stuff they have no idea. West Wing was amazing until Sorkin left. One of the best shows of all time in my opinion.

Unfortunately TiVo can't record a show that has been cancelled (well... you know what I mean). This is how good shows get cancelled. They put a popular show up against a more popular show, people have to choose which to watch, one loses a chunk of its audience. Eventually the network realizes it's a bad idea and moves the show to a new time slot - then even more people have a conflict and some stop watching. The show isn't able to regain all of its previous audience, because they've already missed a bunch of episodes.

Some of the best shows on TV fail because of a bad timeslot. Case in point: Arrested Development.

Back when NBC OWNED Thursday nights I don't think the other networks even put up much effort to compete.

Thursday always seemed like the worst night on TV. And you've forgot about The Office (IIRC that's Thursdays). Thursday is like the odd day out. Nothing worth watching on. CSI has become too repetitive for me, at least Vegas has. Miami is great, and New York just sucks.

CSI, Grey's, and OC are garbage. Studio 60 could be good, I suppose, but the west wing is, IMO, the most overrated show in history.

The Ultimate Fighter is on at 9pm. Although maybe we are talking different time zones.

Recently I suppose then :p Forgot about Seinfeld, mainly because you can see it at anytime. It just seems like way better TV can be had on any other channel, at any other day.

The same thing has happened now a little on Wednesday. Fox has put Justice on at 9pm on Wednesday, and like anyone would miss Lost for Justice. Justice is pretty damn good, but it's never going to sway anyone who likes Lost. BT is your friend I suppose.

Good luck downloading new episodes after the shows are cancelled. See above.

Who gives a sh!t about the OC...and Studio 60 looks like the same...daytime drama on during prime time. I'll be watching CSI if there isn't a College football game on.

Seeing as I download my TV, I don't really much care. But as far as why... because they're gambling long-term success for short-term gain. It's the reason why Invasion was cancelled: they took a solid show and stuck it up against some behemoth in the hopes of unseating the current winner for that timeslot, despite the fact that it was blatantly obvious that they woudn't win. They just want to inconvenience the other network, and if a good show dies in the process, "oh well, it was too good and next season the producers would have had justification to up the budget."

The Bottom Line is what makes network TV tick. Fortunately it's not ALWAYS that way with cable TV, or if it is it's to a lesser extent. Cable: the last haven of good TV. (amid a lot of syndicated reruns)

Daytime drama? Have you watched any daytime dramas? Have you watched Studio 60? I'm not sure how you could have come to that conclusion.

1 computer + 2 WinTV PVR-500's (dual tuner cards) = potential to record 4 shows at once. Or so I assume.

i know he left. can u expect him to abandon studio 60 too? the concept behind the show isn't a huge draw for me anyways. unless it gets huge critics raves for the season i won't bother.
