****mini rant below

- death of iranian twins ( not to be a d!ck but what makes them so special? Thousands die horrible painful deaths each day yet they are not publicized. Why should I be led to believe that these iranian twins that demanded they be seperated at all costs are more important than anyone else.)

-Who is dating who in hollywood. ( why is this news? Why does anybody care? Why should we care? This does not effect my life at all. Isnt this why we have the enterntainment channel so those who are interested can watch)

- celebrity virginity ( I know this was beaten to death already but come on britney or whoevers virginity is no ones business to begin with and is not at all relevant material in a news program or website.)

I feel like there is so much more important interesting and intellectual news to discuss in the world but yet the media always seems to choose the stupidest and most irrelevant areas to focus their attention on. WTF??????????

How bout some news on people that are doing good for the community instead of who was wearing the best dress at the awards ceremony. How bout some news that isnt either irrelevant or negative. Is there such thing as good news anymore........

/end mini rant

actually no just kidding, this comes from both sides whether national news or talk radio. It's just because that's what people want to hear. Gossip makes $$$.

- Yea, you are a dick. You have think of how rare it is for these people to even attempt a surgery as risky and intricate as they did. It was expected to last DAYS. They made news when they went into surgery, and they didn't make it, so naturaly that's going to make news also. If you have to ask what makes them so special, you need help.

- Yea, have you ever wondered why this type of stuff is listen under the ENTERTAINMENT SECTION of websites, ETC. The answer to why this type of news is popular is obvious, and we all know it. People are facinated with celebrities.

While you have a point about the other items you listed, questioning this one is rather silly. It was a surgery that was never done before (on adults) employing some of the brightest doctors in the world, who worked for free. That alone is rather important, excluding the tear-jerking effect the story of course had.

And yet, you complain when you sit around and listen to it long enough to hear it.

One might almost think these sort of comments should route themselves to the programming director at your local news organizations.

- its not normal to be attatched to someone else by your brain. I understand. But really.....i dont think that makes them special they knew they were most likely gonna die they chose to.......i dont really have anymore sympathy for them than anyone else that died yesterday. Actually I think it would be more valid to honor the americans that are still dying in Iraq on a daily basis. Not some middle eastern mutant that chose to die.

- my local paper(s) are just as useless and boring as national newspapers.....the only thing worth reading is which people from highschool showed up in the blotters.

- Would people be so entertained in celebs if they werent forced down our throats? prolly not.

right cuz I'm sure I'll have such an impact with all my political influences and money. I can see the programming directors chuckling and throwing the letter in the recycling been in a mock jump shot manner.

Well, I'm sure the people reading this here would do the same if they actually had hardcopy.

I agree that stories about Hollywood couples or celebrity sex lives should not be front page news (the Britney story was on Yahoo's front page yesterday), but the Iranian twins story actually had some merit. What makes them so special? Well, for one thing the type of surgery was unprecedented with adults. It's not like they were demanding 'special treatment', for God's sake they were conjoined to each other at the head for 29 years

I listen to the commercial radio in the car for traffic and weather. The rest of the time I listen to NPR or my personal music. The local stations concentrate to much on dirt and evil for me to listen to them for very long.

Please apply this quote to the above situation and to the general population. ;)

I still haven't quite figured how how Princess Di didn't win a darwin award. Every news source was talking about a tragic death and all that. Take a car with one ONE person wearing a seat belt (the bodyguard, who survived), the driver and passengers were intoxicated, speeding, Princess Di herself told the driver to speed up. If that were me, would they even bother investigating it?

All the news sites glamorized it instead of giving it the proper title "dumbass dies".

But that's the news for you. "Look at the cute kitten!"

Edit: (errant click)
