Why are there sooooo many car commercials on TV nowadays?

from 5-6pm on nbc, it seemed like 80% of the commercials were for cars.

is april the prime month to move cars?? if so, why?

i'm looking at either a hyundai elantra gls (~$12k after $1750 rebate) or the ford focus (~$12k after 2500 rebate).

Same reason there are a large number of investment broker service commericals. Their profit margin is large enough to allow them to use TV to advertise to the select few who will actually be influenced in their need for a investment broker service even when most people viewing the commercial have no need for it.

That, and mitsubishi is really desperate.
