Started by the Atheists on this board? The funny thing about the majority of atheists is they bitch that Catholics shove religion down their throat, but yet feel the need to push THEIR views on religious people any chance they get. Hypocritical nonsense ftw!

Because tech geeks are good at computers, they think they are better than everyone and are gods themselves.

1) I'm an athiest and have never started a religion thread

2) I'm never been proselytized by an atheist anywhere.

3) Christians try to convert me about once a month.

Now what were you saying?

because they like to persecute religious people

bashing people for race/sexual preference and stuff isn't allowed, but persecuting religious people is allowed

it is the new sport for the anit-religious people of today's secular movement

As though the atheists have some sort of monopoly on hypocritical nonsense...

Most "atheists" are kids rebelling against the norm. Like all kids, they're annoying and full of ******. By the time they're 20-25, they'll have "seen the light" and will no longer be "atheists", leaving behind only the true atheists whose image has suffered so greatly because of the little idiots.

Personally all I'd like to see is tolerance and equal credibility given to atheism. We're starting to see tolerance toward other religions, probably because it's instinctual to relate when we can and shun when we can't. So in our increasingly global society the common belief in a higher power acts as a point upon which to relate, and the lack thereof allows people to rationalize shunning. Perhaps in another 20-50 years, when science has progressed some and people with it... but not if we keep electing leaders who want to take us back to the stone age :(

I'm in Alaska. For whatever reason the christians here are not only plentiful; they're aggressive. THey're like a swarm of pirahnas that have clung to this city as if it's not able to survive without their "help". So many of them have god-related license plates, or bumper stickers saying jesus loves me, that I could puke. I think we have a larger-than-usual Fundie population. Luckily I found some pro-atheism bumper stickers to fight back with and I'm toying with putting "HRETIC" on my license plate. I for one am proud of it!

Ever since I put a no soliciting sign on my door, I've not had door-to-door biblethumpers as often. I still get the occasional pair that can't read. I kindly refer them to the sign, and they usually go "Oh, we're not selling anything, we want to save you" or "we feel this is too important to ignore just because you have a sign". It's amazing I haven't shot any of them. Yet.

first description of Alaska i have heard like that. i can see how it would be difficult to deal with Christians when you despise them so.

I have people come to my door almost every week.

I like how the rednecks all compare race and religion.

Religion is a choice. Its different to make fun of someone for a choice than for what features they were born with.

Is that hard to understand?

put a sign out that they will be shot on the spot. that should end it.

Jehovahs witnesses and the like.. its hard to tell them to go away because they are actually very polite. I don't mind having discussions with them either. What really bothers me isthe people that compare race and religion.

With the enormous number of religious threads started on here, I don't believe I've come across one that was actually started by someone religious or trying to preach to you about it or anything. Odd.

They account for probably 95% of proselytizing within our nation's borders; due to this everyone has had them come-a-knockin' and has heard of the religion. That's hardly what I'd call obscure.
