1. can up their post count.
2. if someone else has the same question, they get the information as well without having to go through other steps themselves.

Any one of these questions can be anserwed in three minutes with google and/or a telephone. What prevents you from typing "scotland map" into google, or calling up your local department store that rents tuxes? You'd get your answer faster, and wouldn't look like an idiot.
