1/10 posts here in OT seem to be about counter strike, and when people are going to play and all. I play UT and I feel very left out here, anyone here play UT, feel like talking through a barrel, just my empty echo coming from it.

Sure, I get from work after about 4 hours, and then ready to play 1 hour after that.

Because CS is much, much better than UT? :D

I like UT, but CS is definitely more challenging. The key difference is that I have the willpower to stop playing UT. ;)

I love UT but I just got CS yesterday to see what all the fuss was about.

Anyone want to frag tonight?

Go to Hoss's House Server Deathmatch. Great server with lots of different maps.

Watch out for Nacho_Killa he's a bad ass :)

I play UT, but not much. I'd rather play Quake just cause I'm so much better at it. :)

Czar, because all the cool kids are playing it.

I dunno why CS is so great- the textures are weak (even in 1024x768), the people look like spastic monkeys when they run/walk/climb/jump. The game isn't even that much fun. The maps are so bland it's sick. It's all "You start here, you start here, now run out into the open and shoot each other or have to find him- oops he's above you!"

If you want a real game get Rogue Spear, it blows CS away.

I'm done with Half Life- I got it 2 days ago and it blows IMHO. <click: Uninstall>

I don't like UT, just because I used to play Quake III allot, I think you like one or the other in that regard, but CS is allot different, it's more realistic, instead of taking a bunch of hits to kill you, it takes maybe one or two, the guns are more realisitic as well... you don't have "Rail Guns" or anything of that nature. Overall it's more realistic, the graphics aren't as good, but the realism is way better.

I try CS once and didn't like it so I went back to UT. does anyone here have any experience running UT server? I wonder if my laptop which has Celeron 433 and 192 megs can serve since it's on 670/260 DSL.

hpkeeper, lol, one thing I hate about CS is that it still isn't realistic even though it claims to be. I have shot people with a full clip (say I hit them 10 times out of 30 with an AK47 on that clip) and they still wouldn't die! Now, in Rogue Spear the most shots I've ever seen someone take was 12- once and they were cheating. The next most was 7 and those shots were crappy shots to the legs, arms, and body-armor. It's generally 1-3 shot kills in Rogue Spear- quite realistic.

zippy: Bet you about $500 that you didn't hit someone 10 times with an AK with them not dying. 1-3 shots for an AK will kill anyone, but you actually have to hit them. ;) If you fired 30 rounds rapidly, you didn't.

The biggest unrealistic part of CS is that damn AWP -- how exactly do you die from one shot to the foot? The other part is the bunny hopping.

All of you CS/UT people simply cannot compete in Quake 3 Arena. CS is a joke with very little skill involved (hence its popularity).

Yes, I understand it's frustrating to go on a Q3 server and get constantly killed -- but if you just give it awhile you improve.

I agree, UT tops Half-Life/CS. I don't know what the fuss is about. If you want a similar type game in UT then play Assault.

I do think Rogue Spear is better, but you don't always get as many quality people in Rogue Spear games as you do in our dedicated [AT] server. I'd love to join in on some [AT] Rogue Spear games. That'd be OH SO TIGHT! While I'm not good at Counter-Strike, I will either snipe you across the way with my AK-74(AK-47 is suck) or do it to your face with my MP5K-PDW and Beretta 92FS.

nd: Sorry, but you're wrong there. For one thing, the skills are completely different since there's no respawn in CS and tactics are fairly non-existent in Q3. For another, though this may not be true anymore, CS players on a whole are much better than the average Q3 player -- take a look at just about any Q3 DM server where it's easy as hell to dominate. Better players stick to the CTF servers but even then the competition isn't as good as CS. I have seen MANY more excellent FPS players in CS than in Q3, and the skill difference between a vet and a newbie is glaringly apparent in CS whereas in Q3 newbies can take out vets fairly well with some luck.

Hell, give any moron a BFG and they can wrack up a load of kills. There's no analog in CS since it takes even a little skill to use the sniper rifles.

UT, OTOH, does have much more opportunity for skill than Q3 given the variety of weapons though I'm not sure it's as demanding as CS since tactics are not as important. Q3 is fun for what it is, relatively mindless, but it's not as demanding as CS. If you think so, why don't you head over to Neo's server and see how you do then we can testify to your l33t-ness.
