why are there rigid sli and crossfire bridges?

well, why?

my daughter recently bought a gtx760 and my son won a gtx760 and is selling it to her, they are of different heights and the ridged bridge makes it difficult to set it up right.

I know flexible ones are available but why make them ridged at all?

That's just the way the cookie crumbles. It's always better to SLI the same brand cards.

when used with the motherboard they come with they fit perfect and look better.

Need one for 3 or 4 way too.

They are also more reliable. The ribbons can flex, but they are also more prone to issues. But like others said, need to be same model cards (Which is best practice) to use them.
