Why are there no G1 threads? Do you all really not have any interest for the gphone?

So I looked at all the threads in the past week (all the ones that appear on the front thread listing page) and there isn't a single G1 thread.

Is there a particular reason why this forum seems so turned off by the phone? I mean, we all know the hardware/user experience doesn't match the iPhone but I would have expected at least some feedback regarding the platform itself....

I mistakenly bought the Instinct. At least they finally added support for Opera Mini.

amount of 3g coverage sucks ass and they've jacked up the rate plans even more than what they charged for the BBs.

Strange. 1000 whenever minutes (no night/weekend included) + data with unlimited text is $77 a month; verizon is about $115 a month and AT&T about $100 a month. So they're anywhere from 20-33% cheaper....

I wouldn't really use T-Mo's 1000 anytime package as a comparison, I have the Nation 450 with AT&T and with all the nights/weekends and mobile to mobile minutes I use my total usage is well above 1200.

Huh? They didn't jack up the price a dime. I pay exactly what I did with my N95.

It seems higher because the total internet (19.99) included no text messages. The G1 data plans bundle you with a $5 or $15 messaging plan, but for no more money than they were separate.

For the record, I pay $70/month for 1000 anytime minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, unlimited data, and unlimited messaging. I dare you to find better than that, anywhere in the country....

Congrats, Fobot. I'm envious. Although I don't have a 3G phone... but still... as my EDGE connection takes an agonizingly long time to do much of anything over EDGE.

I switched from a Nokia N95 8GB to the T-Mobile G1 a couple of days ago. I'm pretty pleased so far as my biggest issue with the iPhone and N95 was the lack of a QWERTY keyboard. Input wise, I think the G1 is fantastic - it offers every option possible, from a touch screen to the keyboard to the trackball.

The Market (aka the Apple Store for Android phones) is pretty disappointing so far - I guess the developer world's attention is not that concentrated on this phone yet. I'm debating downloading the SDK and taking a shot at developing something myself - I just don't know what yet.

I grabbed one on eBay slightly used, and really like it. I think the 2nd & 3rd generations will make for some serious competition for the iPhone.

I also have a suspicion that some better apps will be released when the store charges for them, currently they're all free to the end user.

Playing around with the G1 at the T-Mobile store, the interface is nice, but the GUI performance was lackluster.
