just curious what it means when you see different revisions ? for motherboards.

I'm getting the GA-P35-DS3P, and on the gigabyte site I see

Rev 1.0 Rev 1.1 Rev 2.0.

Here in Canada, I really don't see there being any choice, I'll end up with whatever they have. Would just like to know what it means.

I hope it doesn't mean flaws fixed and new Rev required.

The biggest change from 1.1 to 2.0 for DS3P is on the backplane:
-no legacy parallel or serial ports (not sure if there is even a com header on the 2.0 board)
-8 usb ports vs 4
-2 firewire ports vs 1

I know there are other changes, I just don't know what they are. Maybe the changes are related
to the EMI issues that has been reported plaguing some of their other boards.

DS3P v2.0
DS3P v1.1

thank you,

now I can see the difference. Now I want the rev 2.0, and I'm nearly sure we won't have that here in Canada. Prefer the 8usb / 2 firewire.

The 2.0 has the serial and parallel ports as headers on the board. The prior revisions have the other firewire port as a header as well. There is one other difference that I noticed in the manual - apparently the 2.0 has an S/PDIF output as a pair of pins on the board. This would come in handy with a video card with HDMI output, because you could run the audio internally to the card, rather than having to run a cable from the coaxial output back into the case.
