Why are the majority of male hair dressers homosexuals?

We have a group from a very major hair care company* meeting here right now and the majority of the men seem to be homosexual. I wonder if homosexual men are more creative than heterosexual men...

maybe heterosexual men percieve the job to be a bit too feminine to bother pursuing it?

Probably for the same reason that all male interior designers are queer.

It is very true - gay men have a great sense of style. Not saying that straight men don't, just not as much so as gay men. Most women have a better sense of style in clothing, hair, interior design etc. than most men. Maybe it has to do with the level of femininity. Could it be that femininity = creativity and style? Or maybe men are just too "macho" to act like they really care about how they and their house looks? :)

I think that creativity and taste in clothing, et cetera, are two very different things...

two VERY different things. I may not give a sh!t what color my walls are, but I can be creative with the work I do.

Yes, they are two very different things. I (along with most men) would vote for funtionality over appearance.

Would you rather have:
a) A comfortable house, built to last. Accompanied by mediocre decoratings
or
b) A pretty shack.

--
a) A beige box with a 1.2Ghz Athlon
or
b) A tangorine plastic melt.

--
a) A very respectable looking wife, who can scr*w like the devil
or
c) An amazingly hot supermodel with crabs.

Does being effeminate automatically make you a Homo? In other words, quite a few hairdressers I've seen are effeminate, but that doesn't make them homosexual... does it? Just wondering.

Does it bother anybody here that such a large percentage of top artists throughout history were homosexual. I mean a larger percentage than their portion of the general population. And I'll be damned if most of the musicians I like best don't swing both ways. Sheesh

Is this going to end up being one of those threads where everybody debates whether homosexuals are born that way or choose? If so, I vote that they're born that way. Is that some kind of defect or "bad gene"? Uh, I'd have to say it's abnormal, but sure does yield some talented artists. Guess it has advantages and disadvantages...

Thank you for bringing up the point that creativity and taste in clothing etc. are two different things. You are absolutely correct. I guess the creativity thing came with the hair dressing aspect of it because in general, good hair dressers are very creative and in my experience, men have always been better hair dressers than woman. I just find it interesting that that field is predominantly female and homosexual male.

No, by no means does being effeminate make you a homosexual. But, in my experience, most effeminate hairdressers are homosexual.

Homos are more feminine. Real men dont care about their hair, but women screw with it for an hour every day. It makes perfect sense to me.

Well, I know two male hairdressers that are actually straight (they don't even swing, imagine!) and I knew a very straight seeming banker who was gay. Actually, I don't know any gay male hairdressers, but I do know one gay male dog groomer. He's a hoot.... a drag queen at night. Pink poodle, anyone? :D

Actually, one of the BEST parties I ever went to in my life was 15-20 gay men and me and my sister. I had the time of my life. I was surrounded by men! Wooo hooo!

There were "mom" gays... "Honey, let me get you a drink! Here's a pillow, you'll be more comfy sitting there now." These are probably my favorite kind. I love, love, love being mothered by guys. :)

There were military gays... the kind that SEEM so straight you can't believe they really are gay... but they are!

There were swishy gays, the funny dramatic type that I usually associate with community theater...

And then there were a couple of beautiful gay guys, the ones that make us women cry with disappointment when we find out.

The gay men I have known (and I have know many... I'm quite fond of them, actually. They treat me right.) either are in fields where they are 'safe' which I guess would include hairdressing but is mainly the arts OR they are in very conventional careers like banking and they hide their gayness for all they are worth.

Some gay guys I know have FABULOUS taste and yes, I look to them for advice. Others are taste-challenged.

To make my point, if I have one.... Given the sample I have to work with (and it's probably bigger than most 'cause I'm artsy) is that I have no idea what the answer to your question is.

:D :D :D

Isla likes gays! :p ;)

gay men are usually pretty nice, so i have nothing against them. my old hairdressing salon was swarming with gay guys, and.....well, lol I really don't know why that is. I guess it's a combination of female behaviour and style, which gay men often do have, in their own way.

lol, what can I say, prodigy?

I have been involved in the arts in my community... theatre, dance, music... it's not uncommon for gay/bisexual people to be involved in the arts.

The funny thing is, I've had more than one gay man express an interest in me romantically. They have actually expressed it to me... i'm not just assuming.

I think a big part of it is that I am very accepting and non-judgemental in general. Either that or there really is a gay man inside my body. ;)

My barber is a WW2 vet and if anyone ever called him a queer, he'd take his scissors and jab that person in the eyeball.

Do you know ALL hair dressers to make such a qualified statement as this? Just wondering.
