Probably because of your power supply. Read through your other thread.

If I am not mistaken, it should say right on the box that you should use a higher watt power supply. 350w will do you no good. Give it a matter of "short" time and Poof! Everything fubar!

Didnt find it on the box..but im assuming youre right... I saw one at bestbuy that is an antec 650 for 130.00 and a neopower one at newegg is 140.00 I know thre are cheaper ones at newegg (even antec 650's) but not necessarily having to wait again should I just get the one at best buy or is it worht it to wait..?

Thanks

Even this would be overkill for what you have...

Let alone what you are looking at.

So are you saying that a 350w is "more than enough" You're saying that that 650 would be overkill for my 8800? Really?

What resolution are you running, and what settings are you trying to run the demo's on? One other thing I would do is run Driver Cleaner and restart with a fresh install of drivers. I always did this, not matter if I was just switching between the same company or going from ATi to nVidia.

Uh, because they're tech demos and don't run very fast? Think nature test back when 3dmark 2001 was actually useful. Froggy doesn't run smooth on my rig either.

Not having enough power doesn't cause apps to run slowly, your computer will just shut off. You either have enough power to power your computer, or you don't... there isnt any "in between" state where you have just enough power for things to run slowly

How many amps on the 12v rail does your 350 watt psu have, and what brand is it? If its a good brand and has enough amps on the 12v rail it would be sufficient for a 8800... if not you should keep the 650 watt psu that you bought or return it and buy a cheaper 450-500 watt one.

Its an Antec PP-352X

You should get a new PSU. :Q I'm suprised the system even turned on with the 8800gt installed. You don't need to buy a really expensive 600+ watt psu though... something like this would be more than enough power for a lot cheaper:)

Schneigerguy... i put the 650 in today that I bought but thinking of taking it back tomorrow for something less (power and money) from BestBuy... they have a thermaltake 450w for $90 or keep the 650 that I paid 130 for. Or I could just order something like you linked to and take it back then. I appreciate your feedback... Its too bad about the Demos though...however, i do need a new PSU for sure with the 8800gts? Thanks!!

Oh btw...right now im able to pull off medium settings at full rs (1920x1200) on Crysis...I wonder if I should bump up to around 3ghz...I wonder if I can pull off high with out it studdering every 10 secs or so..

I just find the 520HX a better deal for $20 more, more head room and it's modular.

This will work just as well for less money - Surely 1765 reviewers can't be wrong.

If you never want to upgrade your power supply again - OMG! A single 60A, 12V Rail...yes please!

I bought the 610w version (49A, single 12V rail) of the PC Power and Cooling power supply I linked to a couple of years ago. Still running silent and strong running a Q6600, multiple hard/optical drives, and 2x HD 3870s in Crossfire.

Whatever you do though, please stay far away from modular and multi-rail power supplies.

They're still selling the 610W version. It's selling for $109 now, at the egg. I have two of them, one that I paid ~$150 for, about 18 months ago, and one that I bought a few months ago, for $120.

Golgatha... thanks for the information...quesiton. How do I measure the total voltage on the 12v rail? I raed thsi on the Evga site "Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 26 Amp Amps" and 400w PSU for my card..

If im looking at a PSU from Newegg This one for instance How do I read the voltage...seperate or all together?

Thanks

Everyone knows that newegg reviews are more often than not crap and cannot be trusted

BTW not all 1765 reviews were positive, there are about 200 negative reviews on it too.

Comparing a Thermaltake TR2 430 Watt to a Corsair HX520 or VX450 is just laughable.

Only 18A on the 12V rail...that is hardly better than what he already has.

They would have to tell you what the max combined wattage was on the 12V rails and then you divide that by 12. On the Antec Basiq, they don't do that.
