The Smithsonian Channel ran a documentary called Lincoln's Last day and the similarity between those who plotted the assassinated Lincoln and those who were involved in the January 6th insurrection can not be ignored. Imagine if John Wilkes Booth's gun had not gone off or if his shot had missed the head of Lincoln, and then Booth were allowed to get away free after the assassination attempt? That is, to get away legally and lawfully with his attempted assassination of then president Lincoln? Let's say that Booth tried, but failed, and then the law had no desire to arrest Booth, or no desire to try Booth in court, or no desire to dish out any punishment what-so-ever toward Booth? Imagine no accountability for Booth, and no accountability for the co-conspirators who assisted Booth with his assassination plot? And to make it even worse, just imagine if the co-conspirators had been put in charge of judging the guilt or innocents of John Wilkes Booth? Just imagine if John Wilkes Booth were allowed to walk away free and clear simply because and after all, he may have tired but he failed so why even bother? Well, isn't this exactly where we find ourselves today after the failed insurrection on January 6th? With then president Donald Trump, and people like Ted Cruz Rand Paul Mitch McConnell, and over 100 other republicans in congress and in the senate as acting co-conspirators who also assisted in the plot by pressing claims of election fraud? Remember, Booth's plan was not to only assassinate President Lincoln, Booth along with his many co-conspirators also planned to overthrow the US government. They planned on not only killing Lincoln, but also killing vice president Andrew Johnson along with killing many other government officials in the Lincoln administration.
This is where we are now with the January 6th insurrection. We have a large number of republicans in congress, and Donald Trump himself all having plotted to overthrow the US government by disallowing the election of then president elect Joe Biden. They too, as like Booth and his co-conspirators, they too tried to overthrow the US government by storming the US capitol, hunting down members of congress, hunting down the vice president Mike Pence, and then admittedly planned to take hostage and or kill members of congress who were in the capitol doing their job certifying the election results. John Wilkes Booth was shot for his treasonist acts and his co-conspirators were hanged. Yet in the case of Donald Trump and his attempts on January 6th to overthrow the election and thus overthrow the US government, and acting along side with his republican co-conspirators in congress, they all will walk free. Not only are they free but many are still in the US government serving as US house member and members of the US senate. And those very same co-conspirators will themselves decide whether or not to hold Donald Trump accountable and in the same decide whether or not THEY should be held accountable. Now seriously.... how F@@K-ed up is THAT?
Donald Trump was, and still is guilty of conspiring to overthrow an election and thus overthrow the US government by instigating an insurrection against the US capitol, against members of congress, and against a sitting vice president. Donald Trump's insurrection intended to hunt down and murder members of congress, and they were in fact successful at murdering members of law enforcement protecting the US capitol. And Donald Trump acted together with some republican members of congress who were also involved in that same insurrection from start to finish, from initially pressing conspiracy theories of election fraud to instigating an attack on the US capitol. Those members named Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul, and so so SO many others still are acting members of congress. They will be the ones to decide Donald Trump's fate, to decide their own fate, and.... to get away with murder, attempted murder, terrorism, and an attempted government overthrow.
If those who instigated this insurrection and who were involved are allowed to get away, allowed to remain serving in congress, allowed to judge themselves, and then allowed to walk free.... well, unlike with John Wilkes Booth and his acts of terrorism this time the traitors will have succeeded. Maybe they were not fully successful back on January 6th and the weeks leading up to, but if they are allowed to get away with having no accountability or hangings in the capitol square then we all know that they will try try TRY again. Just think of it as if John Wilkes Booth and his co-conspirators had gotten away with what they plotted, would you not expect John Wilkes Booth to try again? And again? And still again? WHY would any country claiming to be a free democracy and a moral democracy and the leadership of world democracy, why would such a country allow something like an insurrection to go unpunished? And allow those involved in that same insurrection to go unpunished? Why would a farmer invite the fox into the henhouse? What the F is wrong with America? And.... do we still have an America?
