Because people might have some kind of paranoia that as soon as they test positive for an STD, they are going to be put into a quarintine?

If I tested positive for anything, I wouldn't want it to be known because I wouldn't want everyone feeling bad for me or treating me different, b1tch.. stupid question.

Confidential: goes on the record and will be released in accordance with the law. If someone with HIV knowingly have sex with someone w/o disclosing, the confidential record is admissable in court and he'll be charged with attempted murder and/or assualt.

Anonymous: there is no linking of name and results whatsoever.

If you are infected with a life threatening STD the whole world has the right to know. Your privacy means nothing.

Great idea. Let's make them wear, oh I don't know, a big red "A" on their sleeves. Man, you're really onto something.

 Or you could just not have sex or share needles with people you don't know. (not that I am promoting drug use or casual sex, lol)

The reason they are that way is the health dept doesn't want people to be scared of taking the test. They would rather it be totally anonymous and have people get tested than have it "on the record" and not have anybody show up for fear of being on a list of some sort.

anonymous testing was designed to encourage people to get tested. all physical tests are confidential at some level. if you are getting an STD exam by YOUR doctor, that information goes in your permanent record so future doctors and insurance companies will know of it. If you go to a free clinic, you still have to give your name and stuff so same applies. AFAIK, only HIV testing can be done anonymously.

That wouldn't work at all, no way to ensure they don't take it off. Tattoos are the only way to go.
