Why are some game devs so BLOCKHEADED?

Im not chastising all devs, just the dumb ones. HL2 devs? TOP notch, but the devs at Obsidian? Bottom o' da barrel. Im a level 24 Guardian/level 1 Sith Lord and Vrook kills me without breaking a sweat (on Datooine). Im going mostly dark so im trying to aid the attack on Khoodia (sp?) and when i battle him its just no contest. I have tried a DOZEN times.

Now to my point. Do devs really feel that introducing the "ultra" boss at random times contributes to game play? I really dont understand this approach to game play. Is there a "method" to their madness?

BTW, this might help ... </rant>

You could be right, but then why do i leave a wake of destruction in my path at ALL other parts of the game? Its like knife meet butter, then butter meet stone. Its not logical game design--regardless of whether i suck or not.

You need to think more tactically.
When you hit the bosses, it's not like all the other parts of the game, you have to take a totally different approach.
In KOTOR (1) I had a tough time beating some stuff, but I kind of cheated, 2 characters were near levelling up, so I went in, blasted one of the enemies, and as I killed him, 2 of my 3 characters levelled up, and went from about 10% health right back up to full health, and I was able to take down the second guy easily.

You have to just do the right things, right weapons, right stimuli etc, and get your force powers stacked ready to blast him.
(I took light side path, but when it comes to bosses, well, they have to fight bosses as well :p)

Im not a n00b, i played KOTOR 1 twice (once grey, and once dark as night). Also, if you played KOTOR II you would know that this is a solo battle. You would also know that no amout of stimulats/shields/power ups will help you.

You're more likely to find devs who just weren't given enough time / resources than dumb ones I think.

Speaking of KOTOR, a guy I know is playing it now and is totally hooked. He may let me borrow the disc when he's done.

Perhaps, but my analogy still applies. Knife meet butter x 1000, then outta no where butter meet stone x 1. How does that work? In the first case im the knife and the second im the butter....

As far as the games in general, KOTOR 1 > KOTOR 2. If you enjoy KOTOR 1, try KOTOR 2, but dont go in with very high expectations. IMHO, kotor 1 ~ 90%, kotor 2 ~ 75%. More of the same, but in a borked way.

He IS a Jedi Master . . . :p

With all the bosses I battled, on the light side, they would kill me quickly if I used standard tactics. Every battle with a boss necessitated use of shields, forces buffs, stims, etc. But I was playing Consular. I forget what my prestige class was, it was a force power oriented one as well.

Thats weird, I am not even Level 24 yet, I think i killed vrook when i was around level 22 guardian/8 sith lord. and i've killed visas's master as well, just too lazy to go get around looking for where i must place explosives to blow up the ravager.

anyway, if i remember correctly, I used alot of force powers, esp lighting storm
