I don't get it, it's a fail in nearly every aspect. Here's how it changed from the s5:

No removable battery anymore.

No sd card anymore.

No more waterproof.

No more adreno gpu which is the most powerful and optimized mobile gpu for gaming, now it uses the mali shit for all phones

All phones get the exynos chipset which is laggy and unresponsive, the exynos was only meant as a way to scam indians and middle easterners by giving them the crap version while reserving the superior snapdragon for the Western coutries.

But most importantly: No custom roms. Exynos has no custom roms because samsung deliberately refuses to release documentation about it, so you will be stuck with the infamous touchwiz and DVFS, causing your phone to be laggy and throttle (and if you think Touchwiz and DVFS are fine then you've never used them or you don't even know what they are).

And yet... galaxy s6 sales are surpassing those of the s5? HOW?

There are existing threads to discuss this phone already, please use them. If you are just here to troll, then please go elsewhere.

Thank you.

I guess smartphones aren't about function anymore. Instead, they're more about style and social status.

[deleted lots of untrue stuff]

Because more people care about the looks and feel of a phone than the things that you listed.

I guess smartphones aren't about function anymore. Instead, they're more about style and social status.

They have been since June 29, 2007.

really?! the s6 is extremely responsive, the picture quality is outstanding and the shutter speed from pressing the button to actually taking the picture is instantaneous not to metion opening the camera app is a seventh of a second, you can can get larger storage if you want up to 128 which is what most phones offer as max amount of storage space even with a removable sd card, having a removable battery or not really isnt a big deal unless you just like to complain, the s6 is water resistant. There are 3000 dollar plus dslr camera bodies that arent waterproof but are water resistant. How many games are actually stuttering and cant play well on the g6. And finally not every one needs a custom rom. the g6 works quite well as is. If you like to tinker with your phone so that you can run antutu and show your friend how your phone is 5 points faster using a custom rom than stock then I say its time to get a life.

I guess it's because the vast majority of people don't care about the things you've listed, and are swayed towards the nicer styling and materials that Samsung have used.

Bingo.

Removable battery? Meh.
SD card support? Meh.
Waterproof? Meh.
Adreno? Meh.
Etc.

Adreno has superior gaming performance to mali.

Not this gen. Qualcomm messed up so much the G4 uses a mid-level chip (with a mid level GPU) because the 810 is a junk SoC.

The only 2015 Android really worth buying is a S6. Your information on SoCs is dated.

Sigh - OP is verging on trolling but I'll bite.

It boils down to everything you listed matters to only a niche (but vocal) minority of users. The normal consumer doesn't swap batteries or install custom ROMs.

While I love XDA and run a custom ROM on my Note 4, if you count ALL the posts (not threads) in the Android Dev forums for every version of the S5, you get no more then a couple hundred thousand posts in over a year. That maps out to tens of thousands of users.

The normal consumer wants a phone that just works and looks great. The S6 has:
- better, faster, easier to use camera (probably most important thing these days)
- better build
- better screen
- better biometrics
- more responsive and lighter TW - assisted by the best SOC you can buy and fastest storage

And anyone who wants a S810 SOC over the Exynos 7420 is hilariously uninformed.

Who care?

Who care?

That sucks but I never lost a phone due to water damage.

Qualcomm and their subpar new generation chipset? hmmm no!

I consider myself a techie, I am a mobile app developer. I haven't loaded or rooted my phones since Android 2.3. Roms were unstable and from what I understand now Cyanogen is still not as stable as my stock Nexus would be.

No one care

No one care

blah blah blah...I'm bored!
