Because cyclists act like entitled ass clowns, like they own the road, and like they don't have to follow the law.

It's because those douchebag fucks don't follow any of the rules of the road. Constantly running stop signs, red lights and then expecting everyone else to watch out for them.

Fuck them.

meh I never took too much notice then today in a span of 5 min two egregious things happen. At one intersection I was waiting at a vacant red light. A mountain biker is waiting at the light and lance armstrong is too good to stop his momentum goes through the light and a car going perpendicular has to slow down in order not to run him over.

Then at a four way stop another road biker goes diagonal so he doesn't have to stop momentum. smh, is it really that important that these guys don't stop.

FWIW I hate drivers who don't follow the rules just as much.

Pretty much this.

Most of the ones I have encountered are complete asses on the road. They act like the rules do not apply to them, but G-d forbid you should impede there progress in any way.

The stereotype did not develop out of thin air and they do nothing to dispel it on a daily basis.

Just saw a lady run a red light yesterday... Holy shit, there was a line of cars coming just across the intersection, they weren't going that fast, but come on, you know who would win.

Last year, I remember a guy running a red on a busier street and cut a cop car off. That was an interesting scene:).

Because drivers are impatient ass fucks who think their inane task is more important than the life of a fellow human being.

Fixed that for you...

In reality it's because cagers have to deal with road cyclists, and they hate that. Mountain bikers don't even register... might as well compare them to mountain goats or pig farmers or trees.

Cyclists by law actually have to ride in the road and not the sidewalk. To me this is a really stupid law because a typical cyclist can't keep up with the speed limit and is putting himself at risk.

You know what's really ironic. A few years ago, when I was commuting to work by bicycle most of the time, I checked my average speed according to my cycle computer over a few commutes to the average speed of my wife's car and my average speed was 17mph (this was about the best I could do-and that's pretty fast actually). Her average speed was 21mph.

You're not exactly breaking the sound barrier there Forrest.

Two of them just blew through a stop sign today when I was driving. They're lucky I pay attention when I drive.

that's the dumbest thing i've heard all day.

Think about it, a bike cannot keep up with a car. It causes cars to have to swerve around them. Stay on the sidewalk and just stay out of the way of any pedestrians and they are no longer in the way of cars. Most people here do have the common sense to ride on the sidewalk though. There are some laws that are meant to be broken when it becomes a safety issue to follow them. Interestingly, I never hear of people here complaining about cyclists.

Most people arn't going 17mph on a bike, either. That comes up to 27km/h.

Because they want to be a road vehicle when its convenient for them and they want to be a pedestrian when its convenient for them. If they obeyed the rules I would be fine with them but they want to take my lane till they get to a red light a d just blow through it.

actually, according to other cycling related threads on ATOT, bicycles are pedestrian killers so they don't belong on the sidewalk.

think about it, sidewalks are for walking. the street is for things with wheels that aren't wheelchairs.

"just stay out of the way of any pedestrians"

what, do you have only 15 people in your town? your interpretation of breaking laws for safety reasons is remarkably dangerous and would result in tons of injuries every day (until bikes were banned) in a metropolitan area.

There are plenty of douche bag mtn bikers too you just don't see them unless you are out on the trails. I personally haven't really ran into any while mtn biking myself but I have ran into douche bag trail joggers. Those asshole think they own the trails :).

There are douche bags everywhere.
