it's either anarchy or monarchy, all forms of the State have to have a head and that makes the State more of a monarchy than something ruled by the people (democracy or anarchy if you will). the executive of a republic is the king at the end of the day because the executive is the commander in chief, because they hold veto power, they are independent, can and may act in secret, and because there is only one executive.
no executive of the U.S. govt has ever been removed by the legislature, nor can a majority of all the citizens elect the executive, although the majority of the citizens may have voted for samuel j tilden (but he was not elected) and he was probably the only one.
we also dont have representative democracy because the supreme court is elected for life and it is very difficult for a supreme court justice to be removed by the legislature and impossible for the citizens to vote out.
so whenever you try to blend an executive with democracy, you wind up getting closer to a monarchy, right? isn't the house of representatives at the bottom of the hierarchy?
