Why are Reddit's servers so crappy?

I mean, I know it could be fault of their networking provider too. But all too often, I see the "Ow!" page, or the comments I submit give me a 504 error.

I barely want to use the site anymore. Does everyone have this problem or does Reddit just hate me?

It's one of the most popular sites out there.

I don't think there's a great amount of money flowing through there either, so perhaps their server quality suffers as a result?

Yea, it's a huge site. I'm not surprised they have occasional issues, and it's seldom more than a reload won't take care of.

I just don't see the attraction of Reddit, I just don't appreciate the 13 year olds starting problems there.

If you are interacting with 13yr olds all the time you are using reddit in the wrong way.

The whole point of reddit is to let YOU pick and choose what you want to see. Get rid of the default subreddits, find others that have quality content over quantity of content and you'll find your reddit experience improves significantly.

Yea. It's a great news aggregator for just about anything you want to read. The discussion many times sucks though, even on the good subs. I end up getting pissed off. Discussion is secondary to getting stories though.

I tried that. I do feral cat rescue and it was fine at first then all the kids looking to save animals by flaming people and assuming what you really mean is that you beat the cats into submission then make violin strings out of their guts popped up.

Never discuss animal rescue on the net, too many people threatened that you're trying to make an actual difference rather than starting fights on the net.

Not sure if you guys were aware, but Reddit is not profitable. It's actually a matter of not having the resources to handle the heavy loads their servers tend to experience during peak hours.

not profitable is not the same as no income. They tend to have only one ad per page and also the reddit Gold for income. hey might have other deals to advertise but nothing obvious.

I have way more issues browsing reddit than I do AT. I like the diversity on Reddit a lot more.
