Why are polling companies allowed to bypass the no call lists?

Political groups are exempt -- freedom of speech and all. Another work around is a poll. That's why you can still get one question polls on home repair. Yet another is to send you something in the mail, then call you to innocently inquire if you got their mailing, and . . .

Do not call lists apply only to marketing activities. (There's an argument that polling activities qualify, but I'm too tired to make it.)
