why are pictures i want to save .BMP

I am running Windows ME, and everytime i want to save a 33KB JPEG my comp will only allow me to save it as a .BMP and it saves it as 450KB. which wastes alot of memory. How can I get it to save it as a JPEG. Thanks

Open it in paint and save it as a jpeg?

Thanks guys, I just cleared my browser cache. It took like 6 minutes and solved it.

no just dsl with IE, but i didnt know that not clearing out temporary files would direct it to only BMP files. I would have given everybody user rating 10's but gopunk was the only one with it turned on.
