It just seems kind of irrational to fear terrorism so much while turning a blind eye toward everything else.

how can they come up with those #s? Makes no sense. Give OBD one nuke and I'm sure those numbers will change dramatically. Terrorism is the fear of the unknown and of something you have little to no control over.

As some people showed on 9/11, just because you are a civilian doesn't mean you can't fight back...

There will always be things you can't control, and thigns you can. Worrying about things you can't control does you no good, concentrate on what you CAN change. You could be diagnosed with cancer tomorrow, happens to healthy people too ya know, or bin Laden could visit the wizard of Oz, get some courage and come shoot you himself.

That is why you SHOULDN'T worry about it....it is out of your control.

you can't control health, you can only influence it. if your dna says your heart will fail at age 45 you're screwed.

For the same reason so many people play the lottery... they have no concept of relative risks/probabilities. Plus, it's pretty easy to get people all hyped up on something like terrorism. That way, you can spend lots of their money on things that are for the most part, an illusion of safety. Take airport security for example... it's just an illusion of safety. If someone wanted to die as a suicide bomber, I have no doubt they'd be able to get onto a plane with a bomb in some form or another, especially if they were financed by some major terrorist organization.

Terrorism is conditional. Increase in #s of fanatical religious terrorists, the place where you are, the place where THEY are, funding for terrorists, all these contribute to the increase/decrease of the likely hood that you will be hurt/killed.

That sure is a lot of conditions which governs the likelyhood of being attacked by a terrorist, now isn't it?

It bothers me because of the radical islamics. And when you consider its the number one largest religion around, well.... I dont quit have enough ammo to kill some 1 billion crazy freaking radicals who want to blow me up. And yes, for the record, I consider all of them radical. Their religion freaking PREACHES to kill those who are different!!
But, i earned a vacation for my thoughts last time I want into it, so I'll leave it at that.

Sounds like someone needs to take Comparative Religion 101.

how old were you on Sept 11, 2001?

where were you?

did you not see the live TV shot of the plane hitting that tower?

did you not see them both fall to the earth, with no idea if 100, 1000, or 10,000 people were killed?

wtf is wrong with you?

its not that people are so afraid, its that unexpected death due to terrorism is something nobody can stop.

health is something you can work on and fix.

there will always be terrorists, you can not win a war on terrorism.

im not for the media hyping it so much, they are the media, thats what they do. the last thing you should do is watch tv.

BEFORE 9/11 nobody cared, now after of course people are going to have terrorism on their mind. are you expecting people to not care again?

nobodys turning a blind eye toward everything else... nobody was paying attention to thoes things in the first place... just like nobody was paying attention to terrorism before 9/11.

does anyone actually listen to the media's Terror Alert or Terrorism Awareness meter, or whatever it's called?

Might as well just say "The dragon alert level has been raised to orange" (I'll try to find the comic)

Edit: Couldnt find it.

Are we not afraid of all things that can potentially bring us death?

because they're stupid and like to worry about things they can't control. Ironically, since stress lowers your life expectancy, those of us who ignore it completely will probably live longer than those who worry about it tons and take extra precautions (like not flying when the terror level rises, lol)

and? It was a shock, it could have happened anywhere.
Haven't you even seen the footage of, say, hurricanes or wildfires in various parts of the world? Do you cower in fear when the media says the fire danger level is "yellow" today?
