I just don't see why Americans are afraid direct bank transfer.
Everytime when I asked someone for bank information to wire fund, they actually got upset telling me that they CAN'T, Reacting like it's something so secret and that I'm asking something I shouldn't be.

Hmm...I just don't get it. From where I came from, Direct Bank Transfer is the safest method of transferring fund and I know this applies to many other countries. What makes Americans' personal bank information so special?

What can a person do with one's bank information? I mean, those are just numbers that show clearly on the personal checks.

Can someone tell me why??

It is iffy because he can get the fund reverse after you send the guy whatever or something like that. And there are no 'safety' things like paying through paypal. LIKE that is going to help on a big purchase and you still lose money anyway...

Dodgy either way with big money.

Because you have both the routing number and the account number as well as the name and address on the account (assuming shipping address is the same as their account address).

With that, it doesn't take much to see how much control an unscrupulous individual has over said account.

How about personal checks? Personal checks contain all the information that you mentioned and I don't see anyone taking special-care of their checks. And that's why I don't understand why people are so afraid of giving away bank information whereas they write checks at any where.
