Why are original model PS4's selling for so much?

$250 is a fair price for a used PS4. For a brand new PS4 in the box? I'd keep it. I'd keep it in a closet for another 10+ years. Then i would sell it for more money. Collectors love new items in boxes.

In ways, I like that suggestion. But computers/consoles are different. I have old PC parts new in a box, and they're worth crap. It's hard to see why people would much value a PS4 later.

They likely wouldn't since they can play PS4 games on the PS5. Same reason why you can find PS1 for $10 at every flea market. Because why not just buy a PS2 and then you can play both systems in hardware?
 
I mentioned it only because old consoles have a value to collectors. Maybe not the typical gamer though. The PS4 will have an audience for many more years.
