i bought a steelcase chair new for 600$ because i didn't wait to sit in a chair that someone else had farted in.

the thing is amazing. so much more comfortable than herman miller stuff.

The Aeron chair is made of mesh, so the farts go right through.

.....This easily released pressure will result to less accidents from forcibly pinching a fart into the cushioned seat "wall".

These mesh chairs seem to be pretty popular nowadays. Do they last?

It's just too easy to imagine some zipper or keychain getting caught on the mesh and fuxxoring the chair.

The mesh is stronger than you think. I'd be more scared of that messing up pleather.

More reason we need to simplify the tax code and get rid of these "write offs".
Yep. Simplify it, lower the taxes, but get rid of all the write off etc. It's ridiculous how complicated the system is. Mind you, changing it now would pretty much screw over an entire profession (accountants) so that would be a hard hitting change to make. But I do agree it's ridiculous how complicated it is. Especially in the states, I mean, it's bad here too, but I hear of all sorts of weird things in the states that are taxed, then lot of states/cities like to tax very specific items... like Netflix. I don't really think we have anything like that here. Though Wynne does want to introduce a carbon tax.... and tax it. lol So yeah our system is pretty bad too.

The one that kills me is the car tax, if you sell your car (that you already paid tax on when you bought it) the buyer has to pay tax again. If he later on sells it, the next buyer has to pay tax again! Each time. WTF! Lot of crap like that in general. Stuff should not be taxed more than once.

I prefer the mesh chairs as they don't have a cushion to compact and wear our. When the seat is mesh I look at how it connects to the frame and whether or not it has springs that provide some give. I'm a disabled vet with a bad back so the lumbar support is very important to me and the mesh chairs do a better job than the cushion variety. Everybody has their own ideas about how a chair should feel so it's subjective and is why you should actually try them out in the store before buying one.

I've always used executive chairs but switched to task after I tried them out and saw that they actually did a better job of meeting my needs. The independent movement of the back and seat was something that I'll never be without again and not having to worry about a lumbar support cushion giving out won me over to mesh. Next time I'll probably get one with a mesh seat cushion as well.

I went through several cheap chairs (< $200) before I realized how much better the nice chairs are. I think I paid around $600 for my current chair (I don't remember what it is because it was several years ago) and I've never looked back. I also bought a Steelcase for my office and I like it just as much. Considering how many hours a lot of people spend sitting in a chair, it makes no sense to me to get anything less than the right chair, whatever that may be, for your posture and body shape. I've never seen a cheap chair satisfy those constraints, but maybe they exist somewhere. I can sit in these chairs for several hours straight without even noticing the fact that I'm sitting down, which is exactly how it should be in a chair that fits well.

I understand the price is prohibitive for some people, but you need to weigh that against your health. The chair you sit in all day is a big deal.

This chair will be for the desk at my apartment so I will rarely spend all day sitting on it.

At work most of our chairs are in the $600+ range. Since it's a NOC they have to be robust. They are rated for 24 hour use. Cheaper chairs will fall apart in short order under such usage. Cushion gets too soft and no longer supports you etc.

At home I got one from Staples, maybe $300 or so. It was one of their better ones, but still not quite office grade. It's held up well so far though, been quite a few years. My old chair was fine, but my cat puked on it, and it was cloth. So had to get rid of it.
