Why are my USB ports not listed as 2.0?

I have a ABIT IS7 from 2003. I am pretty use this Motherboard has 2.0 USB. Why are my ports considered 1.1? How can I update this to 2.0?

check that your mobo has USB 2.0 for sure - then make sure you have installed the USB 2.0 drivers. Are you using a USB hub?

Yeah, many hubs, such as those built into keyboards, or even the ones for the front USB connectors on the motherboards themselves, are not USB 2.0.
If you are using those, try a USB port directly attached to the motherboard. If it still gives the same error, there is probably a driver problem.

Thanks for the help everyone

the motherboard was recognized as 2.0 when i updated the drivers on a usb port that had a ? on it

On some mobo which came out during the transition from 1.1 to 2.0 have a mix of 1.1 and 2.0 USB ports. You need to check your manual which risers and ports are 1.1 and 2.0. Also in XP, you need at least SP1 to enable USB 2.0 ports.
