Why are my Sisoft Sandra 2003 File System Benchmarks so low?

First, I run Windows XP Pro.

I benched my file system using Sisoftware Sandra 2003 and my numbers are only 26886kb/sec for a Western Digital 120GB SE (8mb cache) set at ATA 100 (UDMA - 5) which is lower than what Sisoft's ATA100 hard drive for you to compare to (a ATA100 7.2Krpm 120GB [NTFS, Win2k]) which is 31400kb/sec.

Do I have something wrong? It is the only hard drive on the Primary channel and is set to Master.

Also, on the Secondary Master I have an IBM 75GXP 30GB 7200rpm ATA 100 (UDMA - 5) and it benches out at 18118kb/sec and for reference there is the 23300kb/sec score for a ATA 100 2mb cache 7200rpm 60GB drive on W2k/NT/XP.

What's going on... can anyone help?

Sandra is notorious for flaky HDD drive benchmarks. Try HDTach 2.61 or ATTO.

Well, on a hunch, I just uninstalled the Intel Application Accelerator and scored over 30000! Whoohoo!
