Why are my harddrives going so slow?

I am copying 3.2 gb of data from one hdd to the other, and it is telling me that it will take 41 minutes to do this. That seems incredibly slow to me, even though they are both on the same ide cable it should be a lot faster than that for transfer speeds shouldn't it? They are both 7200 rpm drives, and one is WD, the other Seagate, oh and they are 80 gigs each if that matters. My computer has been on for about two weeks without a reboot, could that be the cause of the extreme lack in hdd speed?

I'd first power down your machine, get em off the same chain and try again.

I bet you $10 it works better :)

Yes get them off the same cable, that kills your performance.
