Why are my graphics glitching like this?

Battlefield 3
nVidia 460 768
drivers : 285.79
Fresh install of Win7 64bit

It did the same thing with the previous driver version.

Any idea of what could be causing this? I thought maybe my video card was overheating but sometimes it will do it immediately, then I restart the game and it is fine for the next hour.

Any ideas? Thank you very much.

No other games doing this. I just played through Crysis 2 and Rage without any problems.

I lowered the detail of the game but it started again after a few matches. I found a lot of other reports of this same issue on the BF3 forums... I'm not sure what to do at this point - I guess I'll wait for a patch or some more information from the forums.

Thank you!

Have you taken a look at what temperatures your video card hits playing BF3? Some other posts were saying it is almost as stressful as running Furmark.

Your card is fried. I had the same problem with an ATI 9700 (10 years ago) and had to RMA... Ironically, it was with BF1 but the artifacts were in the exact same manner. Polygons warping into infinity...

that most certainly does not mean his card is fried. I had that happen to me in Fallout 3 on a certain set of drivers.

Really need to know this. Download msi afterburner and set it to display the temps and stuff in the corner. We need to know the temps.

I'd start by clearing your drivers and reinstalling the latest set.

I installed the 290 beta drivers and played for a few hours without any problem. Hopefully it's all resolved now.

My max video card temp was 60c. Is this normal or am I getting up there?

have you never looked a gpu reviews? 60C is extremely low temps for being under load. in fact that sounds too low so are you sure that was the max temp it hit in a demanding game?

Yeah, it was maxing at 60c according to MSI Afterburner. Perhaps it's because I lowered the graphics settings so much in an attempt to fix the glitching. I'll raise the settings back to high and get a new reading tonight.

Had the same issue with my Nvidia MX 440 in Battlefield 1942. Seemed to be a heat issue.
