when you think about it, it takes less energy to put the sead down then lift the lid up, seeing as most people who put the seat down also put the lid down also, women should be happy to see the seat up because all they have to do is move it a lil bit and gravity will take care of the rest for them

It's funny because it's true. I've witnessed it. I put the lid down, and my mom went to take a leak and we ended up with the lid snapped in half.

Otherwise, I made a bet once that I would constantly sit down to go to the bathroom to prove a point and damn, all that wasted time! Whereas we'd stand there and whistle/waste time, I gradually went through a Maxim and calculated that if I went #1 4 times a day at around 30 seconds each, thats 2 minutes a day. Thats an extra hour of life every month. Actually, I just discovered a natural hatred of how our towels are across the toilet, so after people wash their hands, water sprinkles the seats...

You need to actually consider that urine is in fact basically steril when it comes out. There really is nothing harmful about it. It is just gross I agree though.
Oh, and by the way, I scrub the johnny and surrounding areas as often, if not more, than my wife. We have to young boys if that gives you any inclination of what their bathroom is like
