Why are males attracted to females?

If our instinct is to reproduce and have babies, why are we attracted to the person's face and other non-reproductive parts? Shouldn't it be just about "doing it" without any foreplay or anything like that?

Is it because we have a sophisticated brain that tells us that all those additional things would increase our chances of reproducing? Or are we tought since we were little to get to know a person first, to get attracted to her?

In short, WHY do we actually like the female body? We don't like it when we are 5 years old, why do we like it when we're older?
*** "Because they have boobies" and "because we are not gay" is NOT an acceptable answer! Try again. ***

Let's keep it nice and clean so that our female members can read and not be ashamed, eh?

I'd say its because we are attracted to the opposite sex for the purpose of reproduciton. We are more attracted to parts of the body that make them different from us, ie their face, chest, that sort of thing.

Did you ever watch X-files? They explained a theory in there. The theory is that human beings are nothing but reproducing machines and will do any and everything to reproduce. That is their sole purpose. For a man, a woman is a way to reproduce and vice versa. That is why there is attraction.

Not my theory. Complain to Mulder and Scully.

Because our biological system and social culture are much more complex to be simplified or reduced down to one fundamental variable.

Is reproduction the only factor here?

A little off-topic, but I found it interesting how bound feet during some periods of China were considered sexual objects. Women would cover up their feet and it was considered as embarrassing as exposing her breasts if she exposed her feet in public.

Makes you wonder about the role our culture plays on determining which parts of the body must be covered up in public.

vboy its a proven fact that men and womens brains DO have a physical diffrence that determines our sexual preferances
some gay people have the wrong brain as it were and as a result are gay

i do not have a link to back this up i watched it on the learning channel

We are attracted to the female body because of the way we evolved. We evolved to ensure that reproduction will be successful and there are good chances that the offspring will survive. So we look for a physically attractive person to ensure reproductive success. Lately; however, we have been bombarded with beautiful people on television so we are now attracted to what the media considers beautiful. Also I think humans really like symmetry, I know I do.

we are attracted to the female body because of society. It's so taboo to see a woman's breast and society has placed such a sexual importance on breasts that males yearn for those things. I think your question is pretty obvious in the sense of why men are attracted to women (for the reproduction part), but to answer your question as to why men are attracted to certain body part's of women, I believe much of that lies within views forced on us by society
