Why are lots of servers greyed out when I play Battlefield 1942?

usually because they are running a different version than you. example 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 ,1.45

P.S. 1.45 is currently the latest version patch. links can be found at their website.

If you're not filtering, yes. Click on a filter to the right if you want just an expansion.

sox.. in the basic install on the right there are filters for only dedicated and password servers.
nothing about the expansions.

Ah, well they're listed only if you have the expansion. Do expansions show up if you don't own them? I don't think they do.

Greyed out servers are servers you don't have something for. Usually its because you don't have DC installed and its a DC server, or EOD, or possibly a RtR/SW server that happens to be running a RtR/SW map. You can still join servers that play RtR or SW maps, but only if they're not running one of those maps.

If you try to join a greyed out server you'll just crash to desktop.
