Why are liquor stores...

...always manned by FOBs who can't even understand simple requests like "Do you have sparkling wine?"

I'm just looking for a bottle of Domain Chandon Extra-Dry Riche for a special occasion next week.

Liquor store #1:
"Herrwo?"
"Yes, I'm looking to see if you carry a certain sparkling wine."
"Spaahhh-keeng wine? What kind?"
"Domaine Chandon, Ext--"
"Chandon okay I check......no, we no have."
"err ok."

Liquor store #2:
"Wahtahwah kahhh tahh li-kahhh" (Walteria Country Liquor)
"Uhh...I was wondering if you carried sparkling wine by Domaine Chandon."
"Ahhhh...?"
"Domaine Chandon"
"I no understand!"
"Do. You. Have. Sparkling. Wine?"
"Spahhhh-keeng wine? I check!......No, no spahh-keeng wine!"
"Your liquor store carries NO sparkling wine at all? Interesting. Bye."

Seriously people, I have no qualms with foreigners opening businesses here. However, at least LEARN THE FSCKING NATIVE LANGUAGE and KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU'RE SELLING. Not only are these people totally inarticulate and ignorant of the English language, they have no idea what they sell. How do they stay in business?

You realize that most liquor stores have one, maybe two people working there at any one time?
This is CA; any goober can open up a store. They're not gigantic liquor warehouses like many other states have.

Yes, i do realize that. I meant call other stores until you get someone that understands. We don't have this problem in AZ. We really don't have liquor stores, as grocery stores and gas stations carry alcohol.
