Why are good remotes so expensive?

Those expensive remotes are a waste of cash. We found one in a totalled car at my job, I took it home and tried it out. The next day I took it back to work and gave it to my buddy. I didn't care for it at all and no way would I pay $50 plus bucks for a remote, but I am a cheapa$$ lol
