Why are gays more of an issue than OUR BORDERS and illegal aliens

What is more important

Keeping your homophobia strong

or keeping your borders secure

I really don't get it either. People should be able to do whatever the hell they want and if that means a guy marrying another guy, who cares. Let states decide about adoption and such and make sure there are partner benefits, which both Kerry/Bush seem to be moving towards.

Ask Kerry. Doesn't he talk about Cheney's daughter more than border control?

(yeah, I get a :cookie: for that, but so does the OP. ;))

Yes god forbid they let the states discuss the issues and decide if they want to amend the consitution. Instead lets have some judges it do it for us!

Fine, it's a valid question. The answer is: The borders are more important, but less interesting to the general populace.

Next topic.

The point is that Bush and the boys are playing politics more with adding an UN-NEEDED Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriage than to worry about protecting our border.

They're not - the whole issue is a colossal diversion. There is not and never will be a constitutional amendment outlawing gay marriage. This issue helps the Bush campaign mobilize evangelical Christians, and draws attention from the fact that thousands of illegal aliens are pouring across our border every day, among many other problem issues for the present administration.

That was the point. It is stupid. The religious right seems more preocupied with limiting the rights of some ppl than with keeping the borders safe.

god forbid a president takes us to war and considers open borders a likely security risk...instead, let's ignore it all and join in with the sheep bleating 'American is safer!'

I'll let you know if Kerry completely seals the borders if he's elected. Hint: sealing the borders will happen after an amendment banning gay marriage.

Thanks for the ridiculous dichotemy.

Nobody said Kerry was going to seal the border....just that he try more on REAL issues and not polorize the electorate on BS amendments that don't do jack.

I've heard him talk just as much about gay marriage as Bush. In fact, he is also against it.

Of course Kerry isn't trying to polarize the electorate - he's trying to pull together everyone by making sweeping promises that he won't be able to keep if elected. That's what challengers do. That hardly makes him a saint.

Kerry supports Bush's plan for border control. The only difference is that Kerry'd plan would supposedly implement Bush's plan faster, after he rolled back tax cuts for all those rich bastiges.

<sarcasm>Wow! Great plan. </sarcasm>

Real issues like what, Mary Cheney, Vietnam? Face it, Kerry is no "better" than Bush at using partisan ploys and tricks to win this election. They both suck, don't pretend like yours is somehow above the muck.

How is deciding things on a federal level letting the states decide for themselves? Aren't those two, I don't know, exactly the opposite? Without the federal government getting involved, states with open-minded people, like California, could decide that everyone should be equal and states with inbred, hateful dumbasses, like Alabama, could decide "we don't want dem queers gettin married". The system works!

States deciding the issue is NOT the same as the federal government deciding for all the states, how do you not grasp that?

Yeah, that reason ALONE is enough for me not to vote for Bush.

Maybe he can unite....maybe not. Can't do any worse than Bush and his promise 4 years ago to unite.

Oh, and we still don't need a freaking Constitutional amendment on freaking gays....

Better protection of our borders would be nice....and stopping the leak of American jobs through them would be nice too....but probably not too realistic.

Bush tried to AMMEND OUR COUNSTITUTION to prevent gay people from getting married...what has he done with border security on that level? Perfectly valid question if you ask me.
