Why are European cookies so much better

The grocery store I go to has a good selection of imported goods and I've been trying various cookies and snacks from Europe and they are almost all better than their American counterparts. I mean, why are these Euro snacks so much better than ours?

Go to a good bakery.

The Euro imports probably use sugar, while the American stuff uses corn syrup.

You aren't talking about those crappy Danish sugar cookies are you? 😛

No, the "Hit!" cookies are German. And the others were a sort of chocolate covered butter cookie from France ("Le Petit Ecolier").

I know that fresh cookies from a bakery will be better, but that still doesn't explain why their pre-packaged cookies are so much better. Sugar is probably one reason.

German chocolate is typically richer than it's American counterpart.

Dont buy the mass production ones. Either make your own, or go to a real bakery and get fresh made ones. The bakery at a grocery store does not(in better than 9 of 10, and corperatly owned one) bake it's own cookies, they come in premade and frozen and are just thawed and put out for sale.
