Why are dual-layer DVD+Rs still so expensive?

They aren't much cheaper as they were last year when they first came out.

Well there you go, the chicken and the egg syndrome. Are people not buying it because they are waiting for the price to come down, or is the price so high because demand is so high? I can't honestly believe they're selling well at their $3+ prices.

Right now I am using used blank SVHS tapes to store HD streams on DVHS. Run me about $2+ a pop. It's a long involved process to record, store, transfer to DVHS, etc.

I'd rather just take the streams from my HDTV card and put them on DVD.

Compare the prices to the conventional +R and -R media...DL is still 'new', and the prices will continue to be that way until say..Blu-Ray comes out.

It's too bad nobody has figured out a way to store conventional data on DVHS because you can store like 25Gb for $2.

because for most people single layer is good enough.

better off waiting for blu-ray. drives will come out next year, then maybe year after that it'll be at reasonable price
