We are all part of the HUMAN race, so can someone explain to me why its black race or, white race. And not just called ethnicity?

isn't it just leftover from the olden days when people thought that skin color meant you were different type of human?

Stop being racist, racist.

First, race was not the same as ethnicity. Race was used in anthropology to describe divisions within humans - see Caucasion, Mongloid, and Negroid for examples. Ethnicity is more unique in classifying. But as words change over time, it's not really used as such anymore, and have become more or less synomymous in many peoples minds.
