Why are dell systems so quiet??

I've seen many dell systems and they are always quiet. Even when their housing PIII 1Ghz processors. It's not that they don't have fans and good circulation, its just that they are so frekin quiet. You can't tell if its on or off by just hearing it. And it's not like their exhaust fans are pathetic, they have decent airflow.

But why so quiet?? I can't get my system that quiet, even when using 80mm panaflow L1a's for exhaust.

I had a Opti-Plex and I think the reason it was so quite was due to the thickness of the case.. It was twice as heavy of any system I've had.

It's all the way they engineer their cooling systems. Most Dell Dimension PCs lack intake fans and only have outtake. Instead of using an active cooling solution for the CPU, they typically put an oversized heatsink on the processor instead. With this in mind, there are minimal fans resulting in minimal ambient noise.

i'm using L1As on half volt with an ADDA quiet fan on my CPU in a large fong kai 320 case, and it's still not as quiet- go fig.
