Why are cops or feds referred to as "five ohh"

you mean as in "hawaii 5-0"? it was a 70's tv cop drama though i don't know if that's the true origin.

5-oh is the name for the Hawaii state police unit in the tv show. Copied from the five-oh webpage: "Jack Lord played Steve McGarrett, head of an elite state police unit investigating "organized crime, murder, assassination attempts, foreign agents, felonies of every type."

Might be beacuse Hawaii's the 50th state.

In this small town that I grew up in, they used Mustang 5.0's, and everyone would call them the 5-0's..

I think in most areas the police code for other police is 5-0. Regardless, the local smokies are the only ones that are called 5-0, the feds are the feds, or federalies.
