Why are coffee cakes called coffee cakes?

They have no coffee in them

And if the definition of it is a cake you eat while drinking coffee, then if you eat a coffee cake, and don't drink coffee, are you just eating a regular cake?

also

Would a cake with coffee on it, be a coffee cake, if regular coffee cakes don't have coffee on them?

😕

What about coffee creamer? If you just drink the creamer without putting it in coffee, is it just "creamer?"
