Why are you calling yourself a monster?

But seriously...just because of lack of understanding and maturity.

Perhaps the fact that anything bigger than children poses a threat to them? Most monsters that children fear are much bigger than them.

Note the "Most" of "Most monsters..."

But the same can be said of various animals. Given the knowledge base of a child, monsters should be just as unique as a bear or elephant..

Small children also have no problem with believing in the tooth fairy, easter bunny, santa claus, and any other mythical creature or deity you throw at them. You tell them monsters will "get" them, they will believe you.

Because part of the definition of monster is that it's scary. If kids weren't afraid of them, they wouldn't be monsters...problem solved.

Because you're not hitting them hard enough.

If they're scared enough of you, their fear of monsters will be the least of their worries. You'd be doing them a favor.

There is something wrong with you Scarpozzi :Q

It's amazing the defense capabilities of a sheet as a sheild at that age though...as long as you stay under it. ;)

It's called imagination. And when imagination exists without wisdom, one can imagine and believe all sorts of things.

No, I'd be all like "cool, If I can sedate that thing I can run conduit up it's neck and generate a load of free electricity." And I'd have little dollar signs for pupils.
