If some small percentage of the population (4%, or 2% if we are talking strictly gay) acted like this I somehow doubt it would have been considered a problem worth prohibiting.
And of course you are ignoring the numerous historical accounts of supposedly straight men indulging in the gay sex in the past. See Ancient Greece.

If they were indulging in gay sex, how does this make them straight? Bisexual maybe, but straight, definetly not. Unless you equate being a top as being straight, and some in denile closet cases actually think like this. So you're not alone in this false assumption. And hey, as long as you don't blow, but get blowed, you're still straight, too!
And even poor men went to the public baths, and tipping the scrubbing bubble boy toys who worked there was optional.
