Why are both the Athlon 64 3500 and 3700 rated at the same operating frequency?

I know the 3700 has the 1MB L2 Cache and the 3500 has the 512 L2 Cache.
On newegg the price is about $30 difference. Which should I go for?

Thanks

The extra 512kb of L2 translates to roughly 200mhz more, as in 3500+ --> 3700+. When I was faced with this I got the san diego (3700) since it was only about $30 more..
