why are bad habits so EASY to acquire?

A few days ago I was refilling the ice-cube tray, and the freezer door didn't quite close. Now, in the past I've always closed the freezer door for the half-minute it takes to carry the ice thing to the sink, fill with water, and return to the freezer.

Well, the world didn't stop revolving on its axis, or anything - the frozen bagelbites are still edible - so the next time I filled a tray I didn't try very hard to close the freezer door.

I just filled the tray again, and this time I DELIBERATELY left the freezer door ajar.

I seem to have acquired a new habit, just like that. Why can't I do that for GOOD habits???
