why are babies cute?

why do people always say that babies are cute. there ugly, theres spit all over there face, they throw up, and they ****** non stop. i hate babies

Because it's beneficial for our species to find babies cute. If they were ugly turds, we might be less likely to care for them properly, and therefore face a greater threat of extinction.

There are lots of cute babies... but most babies are not. Rules of politeness dictate, however, that we at least appear to agree with any mom who gushes about how cute their newborn is.

As for the OP's question, I think it's really just relative? Just think of all the avian parents - have you seen a baby bird? Their behavior is just as obnoxious, too!
 
You seem to have all the answers, so why should anyone bother responding in the first place? Just cut off your nads, we don't need anymore of your genes infecting the population, your poor parents.

Sorry, I meant for (members of) our species, not the species as a whole. I guess I didn't make that clear.
 
because they are innocent and free from hate and anger. EVerything is new to them and with the newness comes excitement and joy. when some (not all folks) see them exploring the world in that way, it becomes a positive experince for the on-looker because perhaps for one split second, there is a bit of faith in humanity once again...
and, because they ARE!
