Why are AOL banned from this forum?

From what I understand, AOL did nothing but laugh at Anand and crew when they presented the problem users who were messing up this system. Glad to see them banned😀

The moderators here actually had a very informative post back in 2000, if I'm not mistaken, about the difficulties they encountered when attempting to deal with AOL users who abused this forum. AOL, unlike most other ISPs, was very uncooperative in addressing the net abuse issue. If I remember correctly, the entire issue began with GUTB and his little gang of sympathizers who literally ran amok here.

When posting the information, the mods were very apologetic about the ban. However, AOL left them with little choice. Quite frankly, AOL wouldn't assist with the problem. Looking at AOL's respective size and competence, one shouldn't find that very hard to believe.

gAyOL (how i like to call them) is crap. Just shows the millions of idiots out there. I'm ashamed road runner has anything to do with them. Lucky nothing really happened to change the service.

not unless there's a way to ban an entire operating system from the forums

They banned AOL as an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Unless those using RedHat connect through AOL as an ISP then they will be able to use the forums just as they were before.

AOL is banned because AOL has bad people skills.
