Why are Americans so reckless in their dining?

From my experiences I've noticed that Americans waste so much

a) Refills in restaurants and fast food places are almost always free
b) When I order dinner, my plate has enough food to feed 2 other people
c) The bread on the table is free! WTF!?

Don't you guys have better ways to spend your resources?

Look at all the fat people we've got in the US, that food isn't being wasted.

We pay farmers to NOT grow food, so we aren't "wasting" resources. If anything we're saving ourselves money by the government needing to give out fewer subsidies. :)

Also, we have far more sex than other nationalities and need to keep our strength up.

A lot of it is genetically modified or pumped with chemicals/hormones or whatever. We spend our resources so wisely, we have no choice but to waste food! :D

Can't say I've ever dined in USA but I have heard about their massive portions. Free bread sounds awesome....

I love when they compare a typical italian serving (well anything european) to the typical american... Then think about how many people eat more then a serving... endless pasta bowls???... We are such fattie fat fats.

not quite sure where the hell you've been living or visiting, but I've been to over 50 countries and most everyone comps refills and bread with a meal. Middle Eastern, European, Australian, Russia, etc...90% of the restaurants follow this trend. The only places that stick out in my memory that don't are extremely poor countries or ones that don't consume grain due to cultural/availability reasons (Asia, some African countries, Eastern Europe, India)

Reckless in dining? More like "Why are Americans so rich in food sources that we offer it at price that makes foreigners jealous with perplexity?"

This is all part of the Imperialist American Conpsiracy!!!11

The plan is to grow Americans so large that they just take up all the space on the planet! That's why India and China are working hard on their Space programs! duh

A little OT, but today my little brother came home from an afternoon date a little early. He then told me that the chic ordered [get this] 2 double cheeseburgers, a large tater tot, some ranch dressing for the tots, and a freaking diet soda. They apparently went for a walk at a park and ended up at a burger stand. He said he left her there.

Ugh, even relating the story makes me want to vomit.

Why? The diet soda negates the rest! ;)

Enough food for 2 other people on my plate ? I can eat at least 2 people's worth of food... especially if you go to a restaurant like Olive Garden, etc.

When we don?t have to worry about food, we can put our thoughts on better things, like building better guidance systems for our smart bombs to keep us from killing too many of you innocent foreigners and better assault rifles.
