If they're a strain on the economy, they should be deported, just like every other immigrant.

How many immigrants would willingly go to a hospital for anything other an outright life threatening injury/problem? Even though hospitals are mandated to help those with serious injuries, an illegal immigrant's not likely to "turn themselves in" in fear of deportation.

Welfare is not collected by all immigrants, as you might think. In the agricultural industry (highest group of immigrants), only 2% of them were on aid, compared to 23% of the legal migrants. I would think this follows similarly throughout the cities.

And to think of all their contributions to society in the form of tax. We might not need them, but they're not hurting our society by any means.

Wrong. You neglected the point about decreasing wages, by the way.

You can't possibly have any facts to back up your argument about immigrants going to the hospital. Don't try to make a point if it has no basis in fact.

"but they're not hurting our society by any means."

100% incorrect.

maybe it's like that for you in that backwards state of california, but here in california, illegals go to the emergency room all the time for reasons as bogus as having a cold. they don't have insurance so they don't pay anything for the visit. hospitals don't (probably can't) report illegals to the authorities. also, the socialists here have voted in laws that require hospitals to treat these people for their colds in the emergency room knowing all too well that the patients are both criminals and won't pay a dime for the treatment. public hospitals are closing every year in california because they are losing millions of dollars a year due to illegals. yeah, i certainly welcome the brown man into my state with open arms..

I was going to start a thread about this, but i'll just have an input here:

Why are there so many people complaining? It is disgusting to me to see people whining about diversity. All the minorities complain that they aren't getting enough, so they ask for their special things. Such as getting more funding for minority groups on campus. While the majority complains that they aren't getting their fair share. Both sides are dumba$$es. Seriously. So a white guy complains that it isn't fair that minority organizations get more funding from our student government. As soon as this white guy complains a minority (asian, black, mexican, persian, etc.) will come out and say "you have a biased view, no no no if it weren't for these perks we could never be at this campus with you." Thank you very much for confirming that you are dumb and need special help to get in higher places. So we have these two sides complaining about each other, this whole reverse racism bs. Anything and everything said about one another is racist. Why, tell me why, the hell can't these people just forget about the colors of their skin and freaking work together? I really don't see how these grown college students can start cussing at each other over something that should not be an issue. THEY are the ones that make it an issue. Can't they just live life simple, and worry about better things? It is just disappointing to me to see people like that. (i'm asian)

So I say embrace the next wave of immigrants because the only people that are true Americans are the Native Americans.

Troll :disgust:

Americans have no problem with legal immigration, especially as virtually all Americans are the descendents of immigrants (or immigrants themselves). In fact, America is the most open to immigration of any country on earth, and one of the most diverse.
It's the illegal immigration that Americans wish to curb, primarily because Americans also have a great deal of respect for THE LAW, and zero respect for criminals, which is exactly what illegal immigrants are.
Get a clue.

I love it how a lot of you can speak for the world when you grew up nice lives as a child, aquired an education, and have that powerful computer in front of you to talk about such a subject. This country is made up of immigrants. It happens every generation. Hell look at the east coast. Italians in the north, spanish in the south. And most of you are generalizing illegal immigrants as all mexicans. Live in a poverty stricken life in a foreign country for a few years and see how it is. Then tell me you won't make a strive to enter a better life whether it be illegal or not. I agree on the fact tho that criminals are criminals and we wouldnt want them in our country. But it's going to happen. It's human nature. Just something to think about...

My fiancee immigrated to the US with her family when she was 13. She's now a citizen and a lawyer, and she feels exactly the same way as I do about immigrants. Most of them need to be deported. They're a strain on the economy and absolutely worthless, for the most part. She feels the same way about illegals; they should be treated as felons.

It must be their little hands.

Illegal immigrants are a slap in the face to every legal immigrant.

One set of grandparents, and one group of great grandparents were first generation Americans from Europe. Most of them lived pretty crappy lives in Eastern Europe (the early 1900s was an especially great time to live in the areas now known as Ukraine and Poland  ). They put up with plenty of crap over there. But guess what, they all came here legally through Ellis Island.

Now tell me why it's alright for illegals to be here in the US?

I don't mind immigrants at all.

I mind illegal aliens.

And I mind having products, signs, menus, etc. in both english and spanish. Historically nations that support multiple languages are doomed to fall.

I don't mind them if they can pull their weight and not be a further burden to society.

i would like to know why our poloticians have such a tough time making and passing laws on issues like this?

it seems to me that most everyone in this thread is completely against illegal immigrants but has absolutley no problem with legal ones

in a nut shell, it seems we all know what problems there are and how to fix them, but when it comes to actually getting them done it's a cluster fvck

Politicians only look out for themselves. If they ever tried to push a bill like this in a state where it actually mattered (Cali or NY for example), not only would it get shot down, they would never see another term in office.
