Why am I so incredibly itchy when I get out of the shower and dry off?

Ok, like a normal person I shower daily, but whenever I get out and right after I dry off I get EXTREMELY ITCHY! All over my legs, chest and arms and for the life of me I can not figure out why I itch so bad.

I have normal skin and I do not have any skin issues. I use Dove bar soap and I make sure I have enough time to rinse off all the soap.

I can only think of two issues:

1) The soap being used is doing this?

2) The shower head is not powerful enough to rinse the soap off me?

Does a soap exist that absolutely will not make me itch when I get out of the shower?

I used to have that problem when I was a little kid, but it went away as I got older.

I asked my allergist about it out of curiousity and she said that it's usually, but not always a mild allergy to something in the soap you are using. But most soaps use the same stuff so it's hard to find one that won't make you itch.

Possible you're using too hot of water. I've always loved really hot showers and I've always had dry skin problems. Once I turned down the temp, the dry skin got much better.

Dry skin + hot water combination. I have it too. I usually apply some moisturizer after I dry myself off and I have no problems.

Lotion?

my skin gets really itchy in the winter after I shower. Just put lotion on and you should be fine.

A common cure for dandruff is a solution of white vinager and water. Maybe you could mix up something like that and rinse it off in the shower....see if that helps.

I would try changing soaps definitely...Dove is scented, maybe you're allergic? Also, look into a natural soap/lotion.... Change laundry detergents if that doesn't help....that could be your problem and the heat from the shower could be irritating your skin.

Most people solve that by using a moisturizer or by stopping use of bar soap. Gel soap and a poof will eliminate your problem, make you smell better, makes showering faster, exfoliates dead skin off of you, etc. Gel is superior in all ways except cost. But what is an extra $2 a year anyways.

I think I am going to get some new soap today. I don't know if I should even attempt to find something at Target or if I need to go to one of those Bath shops?
