That means your lungs are about to explode.
It's best that you never run again if you don't want to lose your lungs.

simple: Your not in shape mate.

If you were in shape you would be able to run better. The running will increase your running. No matter how in shape your phsique is doesn't make you a good runner. A runner needs to practice and build his aerobic capacitya nd get his system up to scratch. I'm very in shape and don't run distances well. I'm a fast sprinter but not cut out to be a longer distance or middle distance runner. I can run though, just not amazingly well.

<< but what's the cheapest way to find out your body fat percentage? is getting one of those expensive weight scales where you have to go barefoot the way to go? >>

Just go to one of those healthfood/machine stores and "try" them out....

AS for me, I used to have asthma if that is the correct weay to put it. BUt after running for a while, I feel great, albeit in a lot of pain.

<< I'm not overweight or anything - I'm 6'0", only 183 lbs at 14% fat level. However, if I run for a mile I start breathing so heavy that I think my lungs are going to explode. I don't smoke either. Any ideas? >>

How is it that you know what your fat level is but you don't realize that lifting weights wouldn't help your cardio for running?
>>

I have one of those scales. Plus, I've measured my fat level before.

First of all, lifting weights does jack squat for your level of aerobic fitness. Lifting is almost totally anaerobic.

>>

I wouldn't say that is true, and I've been bodybuilding over 15 years. If you minimize your rest periods between sets, weightlifting can bring about excellent cardiovascular benefits. Try resting less than one minute between sets and you'll soon discover the excellent benefits that a proper strength training routine can provide. Circuit Training is also built around the same principle.

I heardin through nose out mouth but really I don't think it matters much until you're in top-form. Just do what feels comfortable (panting like a maniac).
